Beenleigh PCYC Team

MARK HAESTIER
Assistant Branch Manager
and employed in my current role for the previous
three years.
I have said for three years I am the luckiest bloke in Australia, I firmly believe that!!
To have the opportunity to work in such a positive environment with dedicated staff who all share the passion and belief, that we have the potential to influence positive changes in the lives of our young people. In my position as the Assistant Branch Manager I have the privilege to be involved and create some of the crime prevention programs that the Beenleigh PCYC currently offers; it is inspiring to be surrounded by so many young people that are so extremely positive and willing to learn.
The road may be long but we have the willingness and ability to travel that road together to provide support and opportunity.

DANE CROSS
State Grants Unit Manager (State Office) and member Management Committee (Beenleigh PCYC). I have been involved with the PCYC since 1995 as a childcare supervisor at Beenleigh and Logan City PCYCs.
In my position as Grants Manager I am proud to take knowledge in the fact that, through the efforts of my team, we are responsible for raising vital funds that support PCYC branches across Queensland. These funds afford local PCYCs the ability to purchase equipment, build and maintain facilities and, most importantly, deliver programs for the young people of Queensland. While PCYCs have an outstanding reputation for delivering ‘mainstream’ sport and recreational programs on a ‘user-pays’ basis, it is the youth development programs that target our youth ‘at risk’ that really provides me with job
satisfaction. To know that funds that we’ve helped to raise have gone towards helping turn a young person’s life around – even if it’s just one –
it’s all been worth it
.

KIRSTY DUERDEN

School age care Area Manager, I have been involved with PCYC since 2006 as a childcare coordinator at the Norfolk Village and Ormeau service and now as an Area Manager.
In my position of School Age Care Area Manager I oversee eight school age care facilities from ten different schools around the local area. I am proud to say through the hard work of our childcare team that all of our school hour's services are all at a high quality standard. Our services provide a fun and safe environment for young children in the local community which encourages participation, team work and promotes physical activities through our active kids program. PCYC is a fantastic organisation to work for as they provide great oportunities for our youth in local communities throughout Queensland.

PAULA BIELENBERG

Youth and Community Projects Coordinator
I have been at Beenleigh PCYC since March 2006. I work with leadership kids, at risk who may be engaged in antisocial behaviours and kids with social and emotional issues. I am also involved in community development projects too. My work is very rewarding.
Beenleigh PCYC is the nicest place I have worked. Staff look after each other and work really well as a team. Staff always have time to help each other out and we appreciate the unique role that each person plays in delivering services and programs to our 4000 members and the Beenleigh Community. Beenleigh is a close knit community to be part of, nestled in amongst the Gold Coast, Logan and Brisbane.

MARIE BARBER
Beenleigh PCYC Projects Manager.

I have worked in this role for the past 6 years.
In my role I tender for and create projects for youth, young parents and the unemployed. These projects are funded through the Federal, State and Local Governments. The enjoyment of working with the supervisors and the participants on the projects seeing that these programmes give each person the opportunity
to develop the self confidence and motiviation to enter the workforce and break
the unemployment cycle. Beenleigh PCYC are a great team and it is a great
place to work.

BRENT COCKER
I started at Beenleigh PCYC doing a traineeship in community and recreation in June 2009, which I have since completed and I am now undertaking my Certificate III and IV in fitness as well as working at the front counter.
I enjoy working at the PCYC because I like to see the enjoyment and excitement the kids get as soon as the come in the front door running straight off to their class or pulling on their parents clothing trying to speed them along. Also the fellow staff members working at the PCYC make the job highly enjoyable and bosses that will help you out in any situation you find yourself in.

LES OVERTON
I have been employed with PCYC Beenleigh for the past 6 years. My roll as a cleaner and maintenance is a very challenging position as there is something different each day. With the management and staff of PCYC Beenleigh you could not ask for a better bunch of people to work with, and I would not give up my roll as I enjoy what I do best.

LYNDA LECKEY
Reception
PCYC Beenleigh is just the best place to work. The Team here are truly wonderful to work with - and I love dealing with the public. I started in 2004 as a Volunteer in Reception and helping with functions and have been fulltime since 2007. I really look forward to the Discos every month just like the hundreds of kids who come to

DOROTHY
Truancy Officer/Transport Coordinator/ Before and After Care Bus Driver.
Commenced employment with PCYC – Aug 2008 (part time Bus driver for Eagleby before and after care). Total period - 2 yrs 10 months.
As I believe ever child needs a good education to fulfil their life ambitions, I enjoy working at the PCYC as the Truancy Officer as I have the capability to help any child who veers from the right direction by skipping school and not achieving the required educational results necessary due to non attendance. I am very passionate in providing such support, especially when I have students saying ‘thank you’ for my help.
I also enjoy working in the Beenleigh PCYC as it is a well organised caring institution with friendly staff, and you can ‘see’ the results of interaction with the community, especially its youth through its various programs.
