Beenleigh PCYC Team (Cont.)
STACEY DAVIS
Branch Human Resources (2 years) & Get Set For Work Coordinator (6months)
I have been involved with PCYC's for most of my working life, beginning at Bayside PCYC for 2 years before moving to State Office for 18months, I finally settle myself at the Beenleigh PCYC where I have been for the last 2 years. I have a passion for the positive development of young people and working for the PCYC allows me to apply this passion. In my role as Get Set For Work Coordinator I come into contact with young people who have disengaged from school and require support in their transition into further education and/or employment. My background in Human Resources allows me to empower participants with the skills required for their future employment. I derive great satisfaction from giving direction to our participants and helping them create their future. On the broader scheme of things, I am proud to be associated with the PCYC brand as I bear witness to the many great programs and activities made available to the youth of the communities of Queensland. PCYCs have positively influenced thousands of young people in Queensland – me being one of them.
CARMAL RICE
Branch Administrator, 6 years
All my life I worked in the private sector and more times than not, I would have to drag myself off to work. That was then, since working at the PCYC I really don't think there has been many days, if any, that I haven't wanted to go to work. I just love this place, the people I work with, the clients that come into the club, the volunteers, and everybody the same way. It's like coming home to your family everyday. Everyone helps each other, there is always someone to laugh with or cry with, whatever the case may be. The fact that the PCYC helps so many people within the community and you know that you are a part of that, gives you a real sense of worth and since working here I feel that I have become a much better person for it.
MARIA WRIGHT
Get Set For Work Coordinator.
I was originally involved with the PCYC Youth Management Team in 2005 and later employed at Cloncurry PCYC in North West Qld. When I moved here to the 'Big Smoke' I was lucky enough to continue to work as a "Get Set For Work Supervisor".
I get to work and mentor 'at risk' youth on a ten week program. During that time we teach the youth job readiness skills, life skills, physical fitness and so much more.
I love the variety of my job, as everybody is different with new challenges and new opportunities. And at the end of the day I have great job satisfaction knowing that we can help change people's lives.
NIKITA SUNDBLOM
Junior Administration Officer.
I work along-side our Branch Administrator and Child Care Area Manager. I have been involved with the PCYC for only a short time, since September 2010.
In my position I get to be involved in many sections throughout the PCYC, always learning new things.
BRENDON PIDGEON
My history in the workforce is: Fitness Manager PCYC; Fitness Supervisor for the Sleeman Centre; Fitness Manager Belgravia; Aquatic Supervisor for Stadiums Queensland and Logan Council.
Watching people grow and better themselves through exercise has driven my passion for the health and fitness industry, which I have been working in now for over 8 years.
There is no better place to drive healthy life style practices than the PCYC, in which the development of a better tomorrow start with you.
Please come in for a chat and we can talk about achieving your most allusive goals.
MELINA EVANS
I was originally part of the Get Set For Work program earlier this year, and went
on further with employment with the PCYC doing a traineeship as a community recreation assistant. Since I was a little girl coming into the PCYC doing gymnastics and sports acrobatics I always thought that this would be a fun place to work
and you bet it is. Its really fun to see all the children coming through our front door and having so much fun and not wanting to leave. I enjoy every second of the
day that I am here.
BILL DOBER
I was working as a community jobs project worker offered by Beenleigh PCYC on a 20 week program, 19 weeks into this program I was offered the opportunity of permanent work at Beenleigh PCYC as a cleaner/maintenance worker. In the short time I have been employed here I have never worked with such a dedicated team of people who want to "make a difference" within their community. It is a pleasure to work with the Beenleigh PCYC team
CASSIE HINTZ
I started volunteering at the PCYC about 12 years ago and have been working here since February 2011. I am involved in many sections of the club but mostly I assist with administration and reception. I especially look forward to our big functions and events during the year. I enjoy coming to work everyday and like meeting the different people that come through the doors. I think we have a great team here and we all work well together as we would always do anything for each other.
